Environmental Funerals

Albert E. Hicks specialise in environmental funerals for customers across Newport, Gwent and South Wales. Eco-friendly funerals (also known as green funerals) are becoming more popular because many people would like a greener alternative to a traditional cemetery funeral or cremation.

Does the thought of a traditional funeral worry you? Perhaps you have maintained an environmentally friendly ethos and would like this to be reflected at the time of your passing? If so, we can help.

What is an environmental funeral?

Environmental funerals always involve burial. The aim of an environmental funeral is to keep the process as natural and as carbon neutral as possible.

Natural Burial Location

Here at Albert E. Hicks, we offer a natural and peaceful burial location where we can make environmental funerals possible. In addition, we have all the required permissions and certifications from the local authority. Alternatively, if you have already found a suitable and authorised burial location we can still provide our funeral services.

The burial service will take place in a beautiful woodland location. Unlike traditional burials, the land is allowed to return to its natural state of beauty. Therefore, it is not possible to mark a plot with a headstone. Marking and tending of a natural funeral plot is not allowed. This is because the purpose of an environmental funeral is to blend in with natural surroundings.

Environmental funerals allow friends and family to remember their loved one in a natural setting, which can make visits less distressing and therefore, more fulfilling. This type of funeral is popular with both religious and non-religious people because ago old traditions are beginning to change.

Eco-Friendly Coffins

As well as providing a personalised natural funeral service and natural burial location, we can also assist with a choice of natural coffins.  Our range includes wicker, willow and bamboo.  It is a requirement that coffins must be made from sustainable materials.
